Steve was born June 27, 1957 in Amarillo, Texas and grew up there and in Dumas.  He met Libby at the Sunset building in the east foyer where Jim McGuiggan held a class that was too large for most of the building's classrooms. Libby (Cochran) grew up in Hobbs, New Mexico and graduated from Harding University. Steve graduated from Lubbock Christian University in 1979 and received his PhD. from Texas Tech University in 1997. Steve teaches accounting at Lubbock Christian University. 

Steve and Libby have two children, Gerianne and Gina.

The Germans have been members at Sunset since the early 1980's. Steve is involved with Sunset’s adult teaching ministry and the small group ministry. Steve’s favorite scripture is I John 1:5-7. He is an avid runner and volunteers with the West Texas Running Club.
